Perceptions and Experiences of Foreign University Students about Turkish Identity and Citizenship

The phenomenon of migration, a form geographical mobility, refers to the displacement individuals and societies due social, economic, political, or natural reasons. This study focuses on experiences immigrant students coming Türkiye for their higher education. These were structured by dimensions identity, belonging, citizenship, harmony. 40 university Isparta Bursa from Asia, Africa, Middle East, European countries included in study. 26 these participants are women 14 them men. They asked questions about social participation through phenomenological face-to-face interviews. Based responses questions, some categories obtained applying thematic analysis method. None had any problems feeling belonging Türkiye, but stated that this is different various parts life, they have no hesitations returning own countries. Language religion found as two key factors ensuring harmony belonging. It can be concluded immigrants regarding harmony, ultimately citizenship not independent each other, undergone historically- culturally-driven ethnic changes.
